A few days ago I bought a new website, an arcade website. I paid $ 50 for it. You might think that is way to much, but I liked the domain name alot. I am talking about Arcade Bubble. This is a great arcade site with a nice script. It is not a free script. The previous owner paid $ 20 for it. It is affiliated with alot of other arcade top sites and its bringing in a nice amount of traffic already (50 a day).
The pagerank of this website is 0, but it is a new website. The next pagerank update will be here in a few months. My goal is to get at least a pagerank of 2.
Currently I am serving google ads on it. It is getting some clicks, average of 1/2 clicks a day. Those clicks are worth 1/2 cents. This is real bad, but I knew that before I bought this arcade site.
You might be thinking: “Why does he buy an arcade site, is he crazy !?”. I don’t know either. I just liked it and now I can play at school on my own arcade site when I am boring. Getting the site popular at school will be nice.

Building or buying a site, sometimes isn’t for profit is just for fun. If the money can came later, cool, but if not, the fun is what cares.
and write about your experience with every game.
It’s a cool site, congratulations. Add a mini-blog to the site

That is a good idea Jonix, maybe I will when the site is growing

Why would you buy a site based on a script anyone else can buy? What makes your site better than the one a few IP’s down the lane?

The script is not available for purchase anymore. I did buy it also because of the nice domain name.

That seems pretty cool, and it seems you enjoy it, which is good.
If the site’s content isn’t something you’re passionate about then it’s probably not going to perform very well.

I don’t agree with that ryan. I’ve sites with “themes” that i’m not passionate and they are perfoming well.

Casual gaming is BIG BUSINESS. They say that it is growing faster than conventional games made by Nintendo et al.

What Michael said. I’ve got a half-written post for my blog about this very subject. It’s amazing how many people (mainly women) are cybergaming. Good investment.

That seems like a good domain name. I’ve got quite a few domains that I’ve bought and am holding onto for the future. I think in the future you’ll get a good ROI on that. Best of luck
I see domains and websites as long term investments. As long as you get the original investment back, you learned more and didn’t lose anything. You get more in return, it’s a plus!

I totally agree with you Gregg

[...] Recently I bought a arcade games website. I did some link exchanges and submitted it to several directories. At this moment the arcade is getting nice traffic. In March it already got more than 1,000 visitors. Arcade Bubble already got 9 members and is growing fast. Their are 500 games in the database that can be played. The total game plays is 5,211 at this moment. When I bought it the total game plays was at 1,500. [...]

Are you getting any search engine traffic for this site? Maybe you can optimize for better paying keywords.

[...] King Nomar’s blog is a Web development Blog. While there are a number of web development blogs out there, everyone brings their own perspective to the table. One of the things that Nomar does that I haven’t delved into is buying websites. He wrote a post on this about an arcade website he just bought. [...]

$50 is pretty cheap, for any website that comes with a domain, even a duplicate content site, after all you are getting a template to work within, someone has set up all the navigation for you, etc.. Arcade game sites are pretty groovy too, especially if they have the old arcade games, like atari, etc.

good deal if you ask me, in the UK $50 is £25
