A good friend of mine, derrich, has created a great tournament for 8 bloggers. Readers had to vote 4 times for the blogger that was in their eyes better or just cooler. I was up to NetBusinessBlog, and it was cool to participate in this competition. I lost against him. He had a lot more votes than I had. In the first 4 votes it was 2-2, but then the trouble for me began. I was not at home when derrich started this competition, so I couldn’t immediately blog about it. That is my excuse
Shoemoney had to take it up against PropStm. I thought Shoemoney would win this competition but he did not. Congratulations PropStm.
As I said I was up against NetBusinessBlog and lost. Shame on me.
JohnChow against HMTK. Chow came out as the winner.
Then last but not least: StevePavlina against CareerRamblings. The winner of this one was CareerRamblings.
The rankings:

This is a great idea from derrich. He gets a lot of backlinks for this competition. Great link bait
I will keep you updated on who won the competition !!

Definately a great way to get links

It only generates backlinks if the pairings are even. HMTK.com against John Chow??? Please, I did not even have a chance! Why would I link to a contest I know I’m going to lose?

I must admit that you did not had a big chance to win. For me the same thing….
But I like the idea

You are both right guys. Don’t get me wrong but this contest is a bit dumb. Every blog has is own value and content and none of them should be compared, neither “fight” each other.

Steve, for the same reason Niagra is playing in the NCAA tourney.

Too bad you lost, hopefully you’ll get some traffic from it…

I think you guys are taking this “contest” a bit too seriously
its all for fun!

Cmon now, Steve. There are smaller blogs that are in the lead right now. And, I just used the usual bracket format: first vs. last, 2nd vs 2nd to last…and so on. Sorry, Steve. What kenny said. I didn’t mean to start any animosity. I hope you guys are still my friends.

i wouldnt take to heart a loss against net business blog
in a similar matchup over at daily blog tips, matt beat out john chow
so id say you were up against one of the industry’s favorites
March 14th, 2007 at 1:49 pm
I didn’t take the match-up personaly but, as a side note, if you want the bloggers you link to to link back and talk about what you are doing you need to do a better job on the match-ups!
Pitting me against anyone other than John Chow or Shoe Money would have had me blogging about the tournament all the way through. Instead you hade me up against the root of all evil and I just knew there was no way I was going to win that battle!

thanks for the linkback but its funny to see it as PropStm…… The domain was actually derived from my school id which uses lastname then first letter of first name. Propst, Matt then becomes propstm.

Hehe Matt, I already thought it was from that
