My Inqlusive Web Directory is doing not bad the last few weeks. The directory is getting around 100 unique visitors a day, that is a total of 3,000 a month. Inqlusive Web Directory does not have pagerank yet. Pagerank is an important factor when you submit your site to directories. After all it is to improve your submitted site rankings. According to the Iwebtool pagerank prediction tool, my directory will get a pagerank of 1, which is not great.
The number of submitted and approved sites is at 3,500 now. I also get a lot of pending sites with only CAPITAL letters or a way to long description, which I delete. I am amazed of the search engine traffic it is getting, because I am not putting any content on it at all. It are just the websites and its descriptions. In march it got 230 visitors from search engines so far, at number one with 34 visitors “unblock websites“.
The sponsored links section is not doing bad. I sold some links for 3 months, which is quite long in my opinion. But the directory does not have a lot of traffic or pagerank yet. I can say I already made a profit from that site, so I do not worry about it. The google ad at the bottom of the page is not getting a lot of clicks. To be exact, 0 clicks so far. I might try to get the ads into the categories and see how that is performing.
If you do not see the use of web directories, you should read this story: why you should use web directories.

If no one is clicking on your Google ad anyway, why not remove it for the time being to build up the traffic. The ad may be driving away potential people from submitting.
See how many people goto your submission page with and without the Google ad at the bottom to see if the change has any effect. You’ve got nothing to lose anyway if no one is clicking.

Move the Google Ads to the top. They are useless at the bottom. I don’t think they will drive away the people that go to directories.

Yea, people who go to directories are there to submit their links, not so much about “content”. My guess is that they would not be so concerned about ads too..

Looks like you’re progressing well. Just keep up the hardwork and I’m sure it’ll pay off in the long run

I tried to move them to the top, but there are problems with the code

You are doing a super job nomar. I like the layout of the directory, is a very good work.
With more time passing, let’s say 3-4 months, you directory will grow in traffic and in pagerank.
In one year, when we read another post like this, it’ll be funny to see the differences.

Hehe Jonix, it will be funny if we read this again over another year, when I still have this directory.
If I still own it though

Cool tool. Thanks for the link, Nomar.

It seems like the search engines will start discounting the links that exist in directories. There are so many of them, and there is next to no content. They really only have a use as link farms trying to game the system. I predict in the next few years, search engines will be identifying directories and removing them from their result calculations.

I don’t agree with that finalfantasy. Directories will allways have a place in search engines, but not the “generic” directories.
What is delicious and other social sites like that?
If you analyse it well, they are almost directories! They don’t have content.
Directories has they are now, will evolve to some kind of directories web 2.0, where interactivity will be very important. Directories will turn into some kind of Digg-sites-like

Great work on the directory.
One thing though, at first glance, the home page looks a bit too familiar with Domain Parking pages. But that’s just me. Great work nevertheless.

DanyO, not too familiar with that

I was the one who purchased inqlusive, and just wanted to give you an update of how it is doing. It is a PR3 right now, and climbing. It also gets 300 uniques a day. Ad sense is still pretty sporatic, but we do get a few 5$ featured listings and 1$ listings a month. We did change the directory to not allow listings without a recipricol link, so i am sure that lowers the numbers. We want the pr to go up so free listings are now out. We were also getting lots of spam, so changed the form name to see what kind of submittals we were getting from actual visitors to the website. The number of submittals from actual visitors is around 30 a month versus the 10-15 a day we were getting from bot submissions.
We did a javascript form validator on the form at first to try to kick the spam, but the bots are smarter than that. For those of you that have a directory (phpld) change the form url. It will help you get some real data.
