Recently I added Kontera to this blog. It is performing under my expectations. Kontera is a text advertising company and is putting links on keywords in your content. John Chow made this possible for everyone. He agreed on a deal with Kontera that every reader of John Chow could sign up. Normally you have to get a minimum of 500,000 pageviews monthly to sign up with them.
From 1,000 impressions I got 4 clicks so far. The money made from 4 clicks are really, really low. It is only $ 0,13. Even my arcade site (ArcadeBubble.com) is performing better. 4 clicks on adsense from this blog make me an average of $ 2,-. I will take Kontera down from this blog. At least I tried
By the way, there is a Google PageRank going on. Some people already see changes in several datacenters from Google. No changes at my websites so far, but it is very close.

Yea, I’m leaving Kontera out soon too, since my humor site is more of pictures than targeted keywords.
The audience are more focused on the images.

I hope I get my PR 5 back! Being stuck at PR 3 is rather depressing…
April 11th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
hmm…i wish i get at least a 1
April 11th, 2007 at 9:05 pm
and abt kontera…..4 clicks and 0.07 cents is definitly not my kind of money!
April 11th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
hmmmm…well 4 clicks for me with kontera gave me $1.23
I’m similiar results with kontera, has i see with adsense.
Nomar, why don’t you leave both in this blog? One is a complement to the other. Adsense and Kontera can live side by side. And has everyone say (and with reason) many sources of income is the key.

I bagged Konterra the other day when a week’s worth of clicks netted me under a dollar.

I honestly dont think 1000 pageviews should be enough to decide this, factors have to be considered, how long did it take to reach 1000? if it took you 3 days there is no sense in remaining with kontera. However if that was a small percentage of the day, say you average 15000 pageviews a day, $1.95 a day is better then what your making without it, give it another week, see how it goes then decide.
I clicked one for you, nice site too :).

Dylan, you’re the man! Absolutly right. No one can mesure a performance just with 1000 pageviews. For a good and wise decision you need at least 100.000 pageviews .
If you remember, adsense at the beginning was only a mere cents.

I haven’t noticed a page rank change for my blog. I think I used iwebtools and I’m expected to be a 4

I’m a bit underwhelmed as well. Since adding Kontera a couple days ago, I’ve received about 2,400 impressions and 21 clicks…for a grand total of $0.98!
April 12th, 2007 at 1:39 pm
That is pretty low Ed, I had higher expectations from them though.

Great site. Especially for a newbie looking to start. I recently read an article about monetizing your blog images for Google image searches that may help you and your readers.

I guess I know to stay away from Kontera. I have never used it, and judging by all of your feedback, I won’t.
As far as the PR update goes, I really hope I move to a PR5 but I have not seen any update so far.
April 12th, 2007 at 9:07 pm
hmm…
220 impressions 5 clicks $0.07 revenue is not very big…
hey jonix, hw long have you been running them?
April 12th, 2007 at 9:40 pm
I’m also testing Kontera thanks to JC’s offer (you all understood ‘John Chow’, right?
). After a few days so far, I’m getting roughly 1 click per 100 views at the $0.07 rate. I planned on testing for a month since Kontera says it can take up 2 weeks for them to tweak the ads for your site. Hopefully, things will improve but frankly, there are so many different ad networks out there, if people keep trying and testing they should be able to find the ones that work best for their site.

I push Kontera over at Derrich.com as well. It’s a great tool.
Hey, Lyndon…have you checked out AdBrite’s new photo advertising service?
April 13th, 2007 at 6:39 am
Kontera isn’t good for much besides confusing your readers.
April 13th, 2007 at 7:06 am
I forgot to mention that I’ve only mad .37 cents with kontera hehe
April 13th, 2007 at 8:11 am
Did your other revenue streams go down after you added Kontera? Did traffic levels drop? If not then there is no reason to remove the Kontera ads.
April 13th, 2007 at 9:51 pm
Kontera has been pretty underwhelming for me too, but like the other people said, it takes time for them to calibrate and/or optimize the ads for you. I’d run it for more than a few days before deciding to remove it. Kontera is still more lucrative that Amazon ads, it seems. Haha.
April 13th, 2007 at 11:25 pm
I wonder why Kontera takes so long to optimize the ads, IntelliTXT from Vibrant Media is up and running with relevant ads within minutes.
April 16th, 2007 at 8:31 pm
TheAnand, for about two weeks.
April 17th, 2007 at 6:06 pm
This is weird. My revenue went DOWN. I had 11 clicks for $0.93 in revenue and now I have 11 clicks for $0.80 in revenue. What gives?
April 17th, 2007 at 6:07 pm
Oh, never mind. I just realized - some clicks are worth more than others, and my weekly roundup was no longer considering some earlier clicks. Never mind.

Kontera Seems To Be Doing Good For Me. You Should Be a Patient and Give it a Good Try.
April 27th, 2007 at 11:08 am
JC is cool with Offers
April 27th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
we stopped using it too, at least a try was there…
