The dollar is sinking deeper and deeper. This is a really bad thing for me and I am sure for a lot others. $ 1000 is worth around 700 euro now and the dollar is at its lowest point ever. I think I am going to sell my links on my sites in euros instead of dollars. I hope more sites will give the euro more attention and starting to buy and sell with it.
Personally I think Bush is behind this. He needed a lot of funds for the war with Iraq and those guys over there. He got a lot of loans from other countries like China and other Asian powers. Also a lot from Europe and you name it. Now Bush has to pay it back and with this worthless dollar it is very cheap for him to pay his debts back
I am not offending anyone here, it is just my thought. I do not hate Americans, the opposite, I have lots of friends from America. Just wanted to let myself out on the dollar.

hmm, true, its the same condition here, rupees is at its lowest in so many years or so…it has dipped from 1$/49Rs to 1$/40.90!!! makes heck of a problem for earning in $$$, but easier in spending in $$$
yea, there has to be some other currency to be made standard, other than $….or maybe take eur(1/85Rs) to earn and $$$ to spend!

A weak currency always helps that nation if it is not a big importer of goods.
If the dollar is at an all-time low you might want to consider buying them then. That way, when the value increases, you can sell them back for more than you paid for them.
When I lived in Germany I played the currency market a little bit.

True Steve, That would be cool. But I am not sure if it is going back soon at where it was.

There’s your next opportunity, Nomar. Start a Sitepoint-like site that trades only in euros. If you keep flipping sites at the rate you are now, it would be worth it just for your sales alone.

The dollar will recover. We’ll go down and then go back up. I wouldn’t blame it on the war, though. The value of the dollar just fluctuates. The value of the Euro fluctuates as well. No dollar/Euro/Currency is exactly the same.

Buy Low and Sell High! Oh and NEVER LOSE MONEY. Period
Take small steps with the dollar if it’s not your field or cup of tea. I say you keep doing what your doing their Nomar. Your on the right track!
Buy some of my Canadian dollars!

I don’t see a recovery in the dollar anytime soon. It’ll be in the pits for a while. The money supply has been growing at 14% this past year. That is the root of the weak dollar.

Pushing the dollar down does two things:
1) It deflates away the worth of foreign debt (as you mentioned)
2) It makes buying US goods, services and assets cheaper for other countries. Which is good for export sales. It also gives US companies less purchasing power, so they’re slightly less likely to import stuff.
Less and less private institional investors are holding on to US dollars in the last few years. They just see it as too risky. But most foreign central banks still hold a lot … they don’t like it, but they know that if they liquidate, they’ll cause it to crash, and they’ll lose even more than if they just hold on to them.

I agree with steve..buy low sell high
Then again…our dollar is worthless because of the debt we’re in. Damn “war”

In Turkey, dollar getting down everyday, 7 years ago there was a crisis and it was multiplied by 1.5
Now its getting back to almost 1 YTL 300 kurus. If your income depends on usd you need an alternative currency. Because it has been wawely rate since months.
