My proxy website “Browse Anonymously” was taken down by myself 2 weeks ago. Now the most traffic dissapeared I putted it back online. I had to take it down because it was eating up all BW. In the time I parked the domain at sedo I earned € 7,-. This is not bad at all. The traffic is low again so I can run the proxy again and yesterday it earned me more than $ 1,- again. This is just a really nice extra income and I don’t do anything for it. No advertisements or creating buzz.
If you have good hosting and you have room for a proxy. Just put one online and looks how it goes, if its eating to much BW, get it down and park it for a while. It is not time consuming and everybody can do it ![]()

I’ve never run a proxy website to date… and it seems there’s a bit of money potential there, especially considering the light amount of work involved.
But I hear that many hosts don’t even allow proxy sitse to be hosted on their servers - do you know any proxy-friendly hosts?

Exactly how much Bandwidth are we talking about? Gigabytes a day?
Also, is the proxy script you use resource hungry? I’m more worried about hogging resources than taking up bandwidth

It took 50 GB a month. Thats to much for my hosting. I am not sure what you mean with resource hungry??

What kind of $ was it making while it was sucking up 50 GB / month?

It fairly popular in the MyBlogLog community as well and is consistently showing up there as one of the top sites.

Nomar, are you using a PHP script to power the proxy? If so, which one? Did you also list it in proxy directories? If not, how are people finding it?

That’s a lot of bandwidth. Was it making money to compensate for those fifty GB of bandwidth?

yes it made around $ 1 a day.. constant..

Does the income cover the cost of the bandwidth? For such low daily income I’d be concerned about blasting any profit with a couple of accidental over-use charges. Nice idea if it works out though.

I have other hosting now, a dedicated one, so no worries anymore of the BW.. But i’ll keep checking it ofcourse

For me bandwith isn’t a problem, but its the CPU/Memory usage, which is effecting the other sites on my server. What script are you using Phproxy?
June 3rd, 2007 at 6:04 pm
Yes, I am using PHProxy
