Search Engine News from this week that you don’t want to miss:
Ask launched a new results structure that packs in features and limits ads. Ask did this in hopes of gaining market share and compete better with the leading search engines as Google and Yahoo! Currently Ask.com is the fourth leading Search Engine with 5.1 % of U.S. searches.
The new search called Ask3D is including images and videos in search results. This has some similarities to Google’s recently launched Universal Search but Ask3D is more structured and has more extra options.
Yahoo came up with a new pricing model. One that is fair for their advertisers. Before this the advertisers were charged teh same for traffic from all websites within Yahoo’s distribution network. With this new pricing model, based on quality, the advertisers are going to be charged less for certain clicks than they otherwise would pay. This depends on the overall quality of the traffic. Yahoo made a good point here.
The rumor is that Microsoft has gathered a team together of 20 or more very experienced developers. Their task is building the next generation Search Engine. Their is not much information available on this project yet, but thats just a matter of time.

It’s amazing how long it’s taken Yahoo to convert their ad system to something closer to what Google’s used for 5 or so years now.
