This are the keywords I want to rank high for. Currently this blog is ranking at number 15 for Search Engine Ranking out of 20 million results. I am planning to offer SEO services very soon which is the reason I want to rank high for this keyword.
Ranking high for certain keywords like I am trying for Search Engine Ranking is not going to happen without your work. If you want to rank high for certain keywords you need to be sure you are using them in your content. A few very important factors where the keywords have to be are:
- Title of your website
- Title of your blog post
- At least 2 times in your content
These are points for a blogpost ofcourse, but for a normal site it is almost the same. Currently the keyword I am trying to rank for is not giving me very much traffic. It is at 50 a month or something.
As you can see I was not using the keyword in the above phrase. That is because I want to prevent over optimization. Making the text bold and giving them a hyperlink to your own page will also help!

Yeah good point I will try that more with my myspace sites. I am ranked number 1 with a few keywords which bring in 25 per each day but need to rank higher in other to get them to the top to bring in more ppl and then make $$ from the increase of traffic.

My old Guitar Hero 3 Fansite hit the first page for “Guitar Hero 3″ I was getting 1000 uniques a day from that keyword alone before i sold it. Im trying to work my way back up with another guitar hero website but it doesnt seem as easy. You should emphasize te importance of domain names when it comes to SEO for certain keywords. It makes a world of difference.

And I believe, as others mentioned, that the domain name of the site will help a lot. Having searchengineranking.com would certainly have you in the top 10 already..
But ofcoarse it should be doable to reach #1 anyways

Ranked at #15? That’s pretty good! While we’d all like to at the top I believe most people doing searches will look at the first three or fours pages of search results. So you’re doing well ATM

the domain/url name also helps, and like other post said, the backlinks and the age of the site, specially for long term ranking.
