Want to follow in the footsteps of successful companies like 7-Eleven, MTV, AT&T, Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and JetBlue? Then, according to Forrester Research, you should look at engaging in social media marketing.
Representatives of these corporations and many others gathered in Orlando, Florida last week for the Forrester Research Inc. Marketing Forum. A lot of topics got discussed, but the one that Forrester put out a press release about was social technology.
The release stated, “Social technologies are enabling marketing professionals to engage in low-cost, low-risk innovation during the current recession, according to best practices shared among more than 600 attendees . . .”
Forrester Research Vice President and Research Director Christine Overby also added in it, “Social technologies allow for accessible innovation where the risks and costs are not as high, but the return is significant.”
We’ve touched on this topic before, of course, but things change and it’s always nice to have fresh evidence. So if you’ve let your focus on promoting things through Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter drift, now seems like a good time to get back to work.
