Along with the other perks released by Google on Tuesday, came a slough of easily-overlooked improvement to Google Reader.
At the top of the list of improvements was a way to sort your friends’ shared feeds in order of importance and/or interest. You can now check out how much your friends share, how often you read them, and if you really want to keep reading your friends’ shared items. The helpful “most popular” tab gives some helpful insight, especially if you have a lot of Reader friends. To access this new feature, click on “trends” in your reader menu, and check out the “Friends trends” section at the bottom of the page.
In addition, Google produced a new user-friendly start-up guide for new reader users. If you haven’t tried Reader before, the new guide is a highly intelligent and quick way to get the hang of Reader-using Reader as you go!
If you are already an iGoogle user, it is now easy to import your iGoogle feeds right into your Reader menu-a one click maneuver.
For the reader on the go, Google Reader brushed up their mobile interface. The new interface now has less bugs, increased functionality, and a more pleasant mobile reading experience.
